A very interesting read! Especially the last part, about non-obvious sources of inspiration, now I want to find all the art and make all the non-obviously inspired icons :D

Definitely inspiring! Especially the section on drawing inspiration from other media.
And it's such a beautiful guide, Océ, I looooove the first table ♥

Btw, what's the name of the serif font you've used for the headings? The long and thin serifs are so cute~

Ahah I would love to but I know myself, I have time here so that would be cool but then Uni would suck the life and inspiration off me x) There was a community before, iconmusing, it was so so inspiring, I'm sad it isn't active anymore ;_;

Happens to me all the time :'D I have a png with all my fonts categorized, that way I don't lose them :p

I love this! So much to draw from and learn from. Especially about your favorite color. Blue is my favorite color but back when I first started icon making someone told me I used blue too much and that I should try and use different colors. So I stopped using it the way I wanted to. Now I'm going to go back to using blue whenever I feel the image needs it. Thanks for the part about copy vs inspiration too! I think when we all started we were guilty of that one at one time or another.

Icon how you want really :D If you like blue, you can do so so much with this color without repeating yourself! (and as I said in my guide on vibrant coloring, blue goes with EVERYTHING it's magical). Thank you for reading, I'm glad it can help :)
