Jack hadn't been in New Tokyo in weeks. He needed to get back, to keep the contacts from drying up, but he'd been detained in Vostok and in return for Ilya's part in getting him out, Jack was doing a favor. No profit, just a favor. A favor that took him to the icy moon to see Volpe's nephew. The only thing he knew for sure was that it wasn't a trap, but he had never been eager to get tied up with the mob.
A trip to Oublie also ment he could look in on a few people, just to make sure they hadn't gotten themselves dead. He did the drop, shared a meal with Alexei and his wife and their children, then was on his own. It wasn't surprising that finding Neil was easy. New faces on Oublie were noticed, even if you didn't want to be. A couple casual enquiries, a little cred exchanging hands, and he stood on the other side of the door, watching the kid watch the sky for a while before he opened the door.
"Yeah, real fucking pretty," I mutter, huffing out a bitter laugh and rummaging with numb fingers in my coat pockets to find my cigarettes and a lighter. Fucking pretty. More than that, but standing there, out on the ice, I only get the barest hint of what it felt like to actually be up there in them.
"You're going to freeze your ass off out here." Jack walked closer, looking at the moon. "That's where I'm headed next. Then back to N.T. so I can get back to work. Just thought I'd check in. Make sure you still had all your fingers and toes. And ass," he continued without ever looking at the kid directly.
"All my parts are here and accounted for, thanks," I mutter, sparking up my lighter and blowing a stream of smoke out into the night. Turning to look at him, I flash him a smirk and offer him my pack of smokes, "You came all the way out here for little old me?"

"It's pretty, isn't it?"
