New Tokyo Marketplace

Jun 13, 2007 13:30

Even on a Wednesday afternoon, the New Tokyo Marketplace was bustling with activity. In front of the permanent storefronts, carts and wagons lined the street from end to end, people holding up their goods in show as they all fought for the shoppers attentions. There were carts stocked with fruit and vegetables, and stalls filled with handmade clothing. A little of everything really. Behind them were the more permanent fixtures. A jewelry store, a bank, higher end clothing and even a gun a liquored store.

The bustle of people echoed off the buildings, filling the place with sound and life.

Some of the more exotic and questionable merchandise sat back in shady little carts hidden in darker alleyways. There was hardly room at all between each person, but somehow the traffic flowed smoothly, the pavement beaten down and cracked from the tread of so many feet. The smell of cooking foods, flowing up from cafes and vendor cars was as appealing as it was overpowering, a blend teetering just on the edge of being unpleasant.

To say it was loud would be an understatement. There was the dull roar of voices melding into one, the hum of a motor, the clanging of knifes, the chime of music, and the chatter of all sorts of creatures.

It was a Wednesday afternoon, the terraformed climate muggy and overcast, and at that moment, the New Tokyo Marketplace was the busiest spot in the star system.

[OOC: Here is your Wednesday gathering post. Timed to late afternoon. Have at it, kids.]
