OOC: This RP takes places after this.

After his talk with Hermione, Murphy trudged back to the Common Room to find it unusually empty. He had walked with her after the Yule Ball under the guise of finishing their prefect duties by making sure everyone everyone was back in their respective dorms. Fred couldn't sleep. He had tried, but couldn't keep his eyes closed without seeing images of Murph and whatever bird he'd brought to the ball dancing before him, smiling and laughing.

When sleeping didn't work, he'd gotten up and started pacing, but George had yelled at him after five minutes of that and the rest of the dorm - minus Murph - grumbled in agreement. So Fred made his way down to the Common Room, thinking he may sneak down to the kitchens for some food.

As he reached the bottom of the stairs, he noticed the current focus of his thoughts: Murph. Quietly as he could, he tip-toed over to the other boy and flung an arm around his shoulders.

As he walked with his head down, facing the floor a familiar voice broke the unfamiliar silence of the room. Murph was completely surprised to see Fred awake at this hour, much less fully alert. When Fred threw his arm around him, Murph involuntarily stepped backwards, irritating his blistering feet.

"What're ye doin' up?" he asked, not trying to sound like a prefect, but genuinely wondering how someone could still be awake when they didn't have to be. All Murph could think about was how much his feet, and now his head, were beginning to hurt and that sleep would be the perfect medicine.

Fred grinned at Murph, shrugging and spinning him around toward the portrait hole. "Couldn't sleep, too much on my mind." He ushered his friend out of the Common Room and down the corridor.

He wasn't really thinking about sleep, or the fact that Murph may want it, he was bored and lonely and awake.

Murph rolled his eyes. First Hermione wanted to talk to him. Now Fred. Couldn't this wait until morning?

Once again he allowed himself to be pulled, hoping to Merlin that it would appease Fred and he could finally get some sleep. "So what's on yer mind and why are ye pullin' me?" he half asked half demanded.
