With all of the unease around the mansion as of late, Iris had been more than happy to ride into town and pick up a few distractions for Raven, especially since the poor thing was still healing. While the Xavier's library was full of literary treasure, she thought that some newer additions might be welcome. Books in hand, along with a stack of utterly frivolous magazines, she was just about to knock at Raven's door when she heard her scream. Panicked, she threw the door open, eyes wide as she rushed in.

"Raven?" She paused for a moment, just inside the door, as she saw her across the room. The blue was taking some getting used to; it wasn't that she was disgusted or otherwise put off by it. It was simply just... well, not what she was used to seeing ( ... )

Raven tilted her head, peering up at Iris through a curtain of red hair. She huffed a sigh, blowing the red strands out of her eyes and propping herself up on one elbow. She was glad to see her... she could use the company. Perhaps Iris would be interested in going for a walk.

“No... I’m fine. Really. There’s no need to bother Hank. I’m sure he’s seen me enough for a good six months. I just... realised something.”

And oh, what a something to realise. The problem was... Raven wasn’t quite sure what, exactly, she was supposed to do with this realisation. There was no way that she was going to mention anything about it to Erik himself. They enjoyed each other’s company, and had fun. She didn’t want to ruin things by bringing declarations of love into it. What if he didn’t feel the same way? She would lose one of her closest friends, and made things ridiculously awkward to boot.

"Oh, thank God." Iris breathed a sigh of relief, patting Raven on her shoulder as her panic relaxed into an easy smile. Re-opened wounds and physical trauma were a bit beyond her, but epiphanies? She could handle just fine.

"I brought you a bit of reading, in case you were getting bored staying cooped up all day long," she said lightly, looking down briefly at the stack resting by her foot. "But obviously, you've been putting the time to good use. I'd say you must have worked out the origins of the universe, by the sound of that scream."

Raven glanced down at the stack of reading material and smiled. “Thanks. I could definitely use a bit of variety. I love my brother, but he doesn’t have much in the way of variety when it comes to frivolous books and other entertainment. Save records. Most of the frivolous ones are thanks to me, though.”

She laughed a little. “Oh, nothing so... important. Well, important on a general scale. Kind of important to me, though.”

Sighing, a bit more plaintively than she meant to, Raven flopped back down onto the pillow. She wasn’t normally so... dramatic, but damn it, she was going to indulge. “I’m an idiot, Iris.” Her voice was a little muffled, but fairly audible none-the-less.
