In which I am suspicious

So, it's a bit of a slow day, waiting to get stuff back from people.  I pretty much am either playing angband, or researching Cardiff.  Which..is soothing.  It's turning out easier than I had feared;  I qualify for a Stafford loan, and I'll get private loans to cover the rest (and go into debt for the rest of my life, just like everyone else!  ( Read more... )

Chest x-ray? Not heard of that but it might be for TB - it's becoming more prevalent. Ah - hold on - Cardiff, right? Got it. It's to check whether you're a weevil.

Charity shops (note the title *g*) are a great source of clothes and crockery, etc. And there are lots of cheap-ish clothes stores that have permanent sales, like New Look. (The latter caters for real shaped people, too!)

*bows* 'charity shops' duly noted, and the correct thing will be hunted out once I land. The day of, since I don't plan on bringing bedding with me -- and what a joyful shopping trip that's gonna be! :D

(You know, eventually it's going to occur to me that I'm actually going to have to go to classes and learn stuff. But not today ;) )

Further linguistic fun in looking for places to dance -- mostly because what you all call a ceilidh is fairly different from a ceilidh over here, at least in Full-of-Irish-People Philadelphia. And you do contra dance all *wrong*! (And men aren't really allowed to wear skirts while doing it, which makes me a sad panda. But I'll natter on about differences in a longer post...)

And Torchwood is doing its job well -- not just an x-ray to verify my humanity, but I have to be fingerprinted and photographed too. If I pretend it'll someday end up on Jack Harkness' desk, that makes it much less annoying.
