spn_j2_bigbang 2010: claim 1: art / fanmix / icons
The fic this art was for was not completed. If you have questions about the content of the images, please ask and I will do my best to explain.
These are the graphics and fanmix I made for my first claim for spn_j2_bigbang. Thanks to my #safespace friends for being awesome impromptu art betas and cheerleaders.
Fic: Nowhere Man & the Whiskey Girl

Fic Summary: Gabriel fell long before the birth of Christ - although that was his last official mission for the home that he had deserted. The fact that he was left more-or-less alone for the first few millenia cemented his belief that their Father really had no interest in his first children any more; Heaven was no longer the same, Michael was not the same, not after the Fall. So he slipped from Heaven, and met a Trickster one day in the south of France. Their years together lead to her exhaustion of the world, and once she leaves Gabriel is the most powerful Trickster in existence. Of course, that all goes to Hell when the Apocalypse starts, and Gabriel finds his loyalties torn between the family he still loves and the new life he has forged for himself on Earth.

This fic was very Gabriel-centric. This cover represents his transformation from angel to trickster, even if he doesn't appear.

I felt bad about not including any characters in the first cover, so I made this alternate cover with a more modern feeling.

Note that this fic is not actually a space opera. I just heart the original Star Wars posters a bit too much.

Gabe and Pan hiding behind the star. Pan is the trickster god who Gabriel meets. At one point she shows him how to hide his angelic energy behind a star so the other angels can't find him.

Pan in Gabe's head. Click here for a detailed view of the Pan manip. At one point Pan uses her own self to mask Gabriel, being absorbed into his head. She annoys him by singing songs like the "COPS" theme, which is why Gabe looks so peeved.

Text reads: Gabriel stood on the small rise on the far side of the lake, looking out across its waters. He felt Pan appear, taking up her customary position slightly behind him; he had not called her here, but their shared experience within her body had linked her to him, somehow, and she always seemed to know when he needed something.
Gabe forms a pocket world as a refuge. (Let's use the fact that this scene doesn't take place on earth to explain why the lighting of this piece doesn't make sense.)

Cas and Dean. Based on this quote from the fic: “He's impossible; an enigma. I like enigmas.” I included Dean in the wallpaper because the fic was listed as being Dean/Cas, though none of the finished parts I read had included it.

Beat up Gabe. At one point Gabe gets tortured for killing the trickster whose body he stole.

Sam, Cas & Dean walk past a stone angel on guard in Chile. This is where the draft of the fic ended. Everything from this point on was conjecture based on a summary of things to come. The final battle took place in Chile.
