Nursery set up

Jun 27, 2009 03:19

We're currently setting up our nursery, and I'm sorry if this isn't the place to ask, but I'll give it a shot anyway. We're sidecarring our crib in the bedroom, so we aren't sure what bed to put up in the actual nursery. We have a bassinet and a pack n play. I have no idea if we'll use whichever bed we put in the nursery, so this might be for ( Read more... )

Not at all.
We didn't have a real room for the kids until our eldest was about 1.5yo, and it was just a playroom then with no bed. He moved into his own bed in that room when he was nearly 4.
Changing table etc. has always been in our bedroom.

We just happen to have a spare bedroom, and the rest of the apartment is pretty tiny. I know her changing station will have to be in the nursery, because our bathroom is tiny as all get out. That's also where we're storing her clothes and toys, even though I know once she's big enough to start playing with the toys they'll be everywhere *but* the nursery. XD

We made our spare room the clothes room (now it also holds most of the bookshelves, too). We have 2 chest of drawers (1 is really an armoire, that's where all my DHs clothes go, our son has the other drawers and I have the closet).

Also our diaper changing station is there, plus my yoga mat now has a permanent place as well... And there's a divan for reading. Sounds like a lot, but it isn't, really.

My 20 month old doesn't really have a nursery. She used to sleep in my bedroom, and now she sleeps in a cot in the corner of the spare room. All her nappy changing stuff is in the bathroom, her toys are stored in my room and in her brother's room, her clothes are stored in her brother's room, and she plays in the living room.

I think our nursery will serve as a storage and changing station more than anything. Our bathroom is super tiny, and we're cloth diapering, so we need at least some space to store her dipes and whatnot. I don't think I'll worry about having a bed set up in there, since we don't really have a need for one. Thanks!

I would suggest setting up the pack and play with the bassinet 'shelf' and the changing table. We used this when our child was newborn and it was great, we filled the bassinet with his cloth diapers and clothes (they were so tiny it fit so many things!) so everything was in one place, it was so convenient.

I was just thinking this morning about how he has never slept in that pack and play, but it wasn't a waste because it was so handy when he was newborn, I had an emergency c-section so having everything at easy reach was fantastic.

That's a great idea! We're cloth diapering as well, so we need somewhere to keep her changing stuff. Our bathroom is far too small.

It works perfectly as a cloth diapering station. You can even use the space underneath the bassinet to store all the stuff baby won't be fitting into for a while. The pack and play we have has little pockets on the side, too, perfect for butt cream and stuff, and the little nightlight thing is perfect for changing a sleepy baby without completely waking him up!

We really didn't set up a nursery - we just put baby gear that didn't fit in our room into our office and used my mother's furniture arranging magic to make everything necessary day-to-day for DD fit into the bedroom :)

We set up a traditional looking nursery, but so far we only use the changing table, and most recently we put one of those play mat things in her crib so she can lay and play while I use the sewing machine that's just outside the door.
