.... will someone please remind me that its not such a good idea to do that when I have to be at work by 8.30 the next day. Particularly if the super-important thing that was keeping me up until ungodly hours was watching back to back episodes of ER Series 3 on DVD ( Read more... )

Jeans are very difficult to shop for. So frustrating. For every 10 pair that I try on, I'll find maybe one that fits. I've found that it helps just to try different styles to see what looks best for you.
The prospect of new clothes is always fun. :D

Not sure if you have Old Navy over there...I'm in the US. :) But i like Old Navy because a) they are not too expensive and b) they have about 7549754295724857894 different styles and sizes. You will find something that fits and you dont have to go to all the stores.

It depends how much you're willing to spend...

Oasis, River Island and Next are all pretty good at having jeans that are flattering, come in different inside leg lengths, and actually are woman-shaped. They actually go in and out, even in the right places if you're lucky! Not too expensive (£30 - £50)... Also, the sizing in these shops is fairly consistent between different styles and lines, so it's not too headache-inducing to shop here.

In the 'cheap' bracket: avoid H&M like the plague - most of their jeans are aimed at the 'adolescent boy' straight-up-and-down sort of shape. So much no. Top-Shop are a bit better, and slightly cheaper than the shops above. If you're looking for 'low-rise' (sit low on the hips) styles, they may be worth braving the hoardes of teenagers. Maybe ( ... )

Oh, yes, jeans is the worst! I actually stopped wearing them for a few years because I never managed to find a decent pair. Since then, I've gained some weight, and now it's easier... ...but I still always buy three pairs when I find some that fit.

I like Tommy Hilfiger. The particular kind that fit me are the ones that are regular length with a "slightly" low rise - fits just below my waist. Not hip-hugging low, but not the awful high-waisted granny-jeans look either. Amazingly, the REGULAR length, size 8 fits short, curvy me! Hilfiger appears to be one of the rare designers that realizes not all women are built like willow trees.
