I am gallivanting this week

I had a lovely evening yesterday. I went out with two friends from choir to see the LSO under Haitink playing Beethoven 8 and 5. We had a great time - lots of nice food, wide-ranging debate and wonderful music. The orchestra were brilliant. It is so easy to churn out Beethoven 5 because it's such a popular work but they delivered it with skill ( Read more... )

Gallivanting is one of my favorite words and should definitely be used more often. It's so descriptive. It sounds like what it means to the ear, somehow.

Our cat used to sleep on my father's feet and he would have dreams that he'd been dunked in concrete and dropped in the river.

I like to gallivant on a regular basis. As you say, it is a most descriptive word :)

That story about your father is very funny. I only hope Violet doesn't decide to start sleeping on my head - that would be a bad thing :D

I don't know what it is about sleeping people's heads that cats find so fascinating. I can just picture Violet flying through the air with all four paws out in mid-pounce, and she is adorable! (Of course, that's because it wasn't my head she pounced on.)

I did sleep well, but I think only because they managed to shut themselves in the kitchen somehow and therefore couldn't come up and pounce on me. We shall see how it goes tonight ...
