I have seen them after the baby has hatched, broken shells dropped out of the next. But by then they are faded, a very pale blue, not vivid like these. Thank you for sharing. Stunning.
There's a little stand with a tin box on it that doesn't do anything but decorate the corner, and now it's been decorated! I'll have to go in and out through the garage now, so I won't be upsetting mommy.
Also, your icon. I've seen two eagles (in the wild) in the last month, more than the rest of my life together. Your icon makes me think of that Wallace Stevens poem ("Connoisseur of Chaos," pt. V):
The pensive man . . . He sees the eagle float For which the intricate Alps are a single nest.
Oh, you should come up here if you want to see eagles! Every year at the farm the eagles come and nest in the Douglas Fir trees. One day we counted at least 15 of them circling over the area. I think that is one of the reasons the farm feels like a magical place. Check out this streaming video site of two bald eagles nesting on Hornby Island!

We have some nesting near us at the beach, but usually they don't come in sight. Lately they have--maybe the group's getting bigger.
