Me too! Although the closest we ever got to being in personal danger was when we were escorted to the cabin to retrieve our things. The fire engine and firefighters standing by (for the cabin, not us) really brought home the point.
I thought about that at the time, but it was their lack of interest in amy of us and their total concentration in watching the fire area that led me to think that if they were there for us, it was incidental. That and they were firefighters with a fire engine and not EMTs/paramedics with a rescue unit.
The TV picture that got to me most was fire high on the mountain peak on which we could clearly see snow from the cabin all weekend. By the time I saw it I knew you all had your possessions, but it was a sign that the people who live there all the time with their horses and cattle and buffalo do sometimes pay a price for all that beauty.
There's also an animal sanctuary off Rte. 89 not far south of the cabin. (I think it's this one, but I don't remember the name for sure & the site doesn't give an address for their Arizona facility.) I wondered if the animals were OK & looked for their website, but the most recent entry in their blog is about a fire in September of last year. Maybe the situation is keeping them too busy to post about it.

They think the blaze started from a campfire.
