Frustrations of a Japanese Toy Photographer

So I photograph toys for a living. Japanese toys, to be specific. One of the greatest and most frustrating line of toys to photograph are called Gashapon. They are little 2-4" figures that come in vending machines, so you have to assemble them from perhaps 6 to a dozen pieces. This a a great deal of fun sometimes, especially in the past 2 years ( Read more... )

Hang a small sign around the neck of a half-formed Yujin figure that says "Poorly Made - Don't Buy Me"

::laughs:: That's just the problem: For all I loath yujin, I've never purchased a Bandai gashapon, but I have 2 Yujin's sitting on my desk at work. I am concidering buying my first Bandai today. It's an asuka in a bakini that's quite nice. I think I really enjoy that set though because my pictures of them came out so well. I need to start posting some of them in my portfolio on my website.

The other problem is, I need people to buy them so I can get a raise. :D

Oh! I have an Asuka in a red and white bikini that I got from a gashapon machine in Japan. (Asuka & Rei are uber-popular still o.o). If that's the same one, and it might not be since she's a couple years old now, you're welcome to mine ^_^

Well, damn, okay, change of tactics. Scratch out the sign and write "Best. Figure. Evar. Buy Me and Make Ben Rich".

lol, tempting...

Thanks for the offer, but this is a new one. This isn't the best angel I could have taken, but here's the figure: http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/mugentoys_1986_108273472

Ofcourse, I'm much happier with this picture of Rei from the same set:
