I know it's completely wrong to play favourites, but I love my 1-4 class SO MUCH. <333 But to be fair, I don't go soft on them for class evaluations. I just adore seeing them. They're so lively and they are the GREATEST KIDS and totally MAKE MY DAY.
I was a bad authority figure and distracted the boys from their cleaning duties today to talk about metal and prog rock. lmao. It started with a Christmas lesson, in which I played Trans-Siberian Orchestra. So I asked my kid who's into Western prog/metal (let's call him Y.) if he knew them. He didn't but sounded a lot more interested in Xmas music after I tacked the word "metal" onto it, lol. Then he told me Dream Theater (his favourite) is playing Budoukan and we both sighed over how far that is from Aichi. XDD
Then he pointed out this other little kid (N.) of 1-4 to me, who apparently is also into metal, but more on the Japan side of things. N. admitted Iron Maiden was too heavy for his tastes, but recommended
Galneryus! AND he mentioned that he had heard of lynch. and enjoyed LUNA SEA. :DDD Y. professed to liking The GazettE. I asked the both of them what "heavy" was in Japanese with respect to music, since omoi/重い sounds kind of weird. Looks like it's hageshii/激しい. Awesome. That's what I call cultural exchange.
And then my other favourite kid K. (he's so ridiculously cute/has that retarded teenager sense of humour) comes along and names some band none of us knew. lol. Awww. :D For the Christmas lesson, he made a frog ornament and then pointed at it and said, "It's O.-sensei." And I asked him why... and he goes, "because his name is Mizuo." gahahah, omg bad pun.
The aforementioned O.-sensei asked me today the difference between the relative clauses that and which, which sparked me to research it (it's exceedingly complex-- suffice it to say, they're currently used almost completely interchangeably, though they do have distinct prescribed functions, which have flip-flopped throughout history). I've just realized that English grammar/linguistics is FASCINATING. This job's going to turn me into a grammarian yet!
I fear me gushing about grammar doesn't make this the most interesting post. :D Well, it's better than being blue. I'm also excited about this upcoming weekend. D'espairsRay, D, and lynch. in 3 consecutives days! I don't care how escapist that makes me. :)
