This is a pretty simple icon colouring tutorial. I love using this tutorial so I decided to write it down and post it here.

Go From
to

To start crop your image and sharpen it (I only sharpened it once, but it depends on your image

Step One: Duplicate the base layer and set it to screen 60%. Then duplicate that layer and set it to screen 32%. The duplicate the layer one last time and set that to soft light 100(Preview)

Step Two: Now go to Layers>>New Adjustment Layer>>Colour Balance.
Midtones: 38, 25, 0
Shadows: -40, 19, 48
Highlights: 0, 0, -15(Preview)

Step Three: Select the flood fill tool Chose a dark navy blue colour, I used: #000040: Exclusion 34% (Preview)

Step Four: Select the flood fill tool again, this time choose a dark beige colour, I used #f1d9ad: Multiply 21% (Preview)

Step Five: Go to Layers>>New Adjustment Layer>>Hue/Saturation/Lightness. Set the Saturation to +17 (This depends on your picture so play around with the number. You should get the same effect as long as the saturation doesn't go under 0) (Preview)

And your done! now you can add text, brushes and whatever else you want. If you had problems with this tutorial or liked it please leave a comment.
