Lay down your treasure
Lay it down now, brother,
You don't have time for a jealous lover.
Dom thinks he's started to notice a pattern.
When he goes home with a girl from the club, Billy is watching.
When he shows up in Feet the next morning sleep-deprived and grinning nonetheless, Billy is still watching.
When he slips away during the lunch break to ring the number scribbled on the inside of his arm, just below the elbow (where costume will cover), he's pretty sure Billy is watching.
When he takes out his wallet to pay for take-out and two condoms fall out, Billy looks away as if to try and pretend he isn't watching, but he obviously is.

A week later, it's Billy he's going home with. It's fun - it's sex and laughing and breakfast in bed the next morning. It doesn't matter really that the "breakfast" is cold cereal and orange juice straight from the carton to drink, or that Dom spills milk on the sheets and on Billy, and Billy shrieks at him like a girl. It's the most fun Dom's had in bed with anyone in a long time. They shower seperately and get dressed half-heartedly (Dom never does get around to putting on a shirt) and spend the day watching tv on the couch and taking the piss ruthlessly about stamina (Dom came in an embarrassingly short time, turned on by Billy's scent and touch and perfect fucking time, pun completely intended) and cock size (Dom's bigger, though Billy points out that if Dom's arse is still hurting 17 hours later, Billy's obviously got nothing to complain about) and who was the loudest in bed (they both point the finger at the other).
Dom goes home at the end of the day. They grin at each other in Feet and make fun of Elijah and bicker over music. It's normal, it's comfortable, except for the blowjob he gives Billy a few hours later. The make-up ladies ask why they're so flushed and sweaty, they say they were practicing their sword play. It's fun and dangerous, fooling around on set, completely reckless and Billy makes him swear they'll never do it again. Dom immediately starts thinking of ways to break Billy's resolve.

When they go out to the club, the same girl is there. She has blue streaks in her hair and wide eyes and tastes like bubble gum.
Dom doesn't know what it is with Billy. He's confused, and too scared to be hopeful. Left to his own devices, Dom would probably understate the whole affair and push it to the back of his mind, but something about the way Billy is act makes Dom a little wary about placing too little importance on events.
Alcohol numbs the brain and other vital organs, though, and when Billy gets up to go to the loo, the girl asks him to dance. He goes to the floor with her, puts his arms around her waist, and tries to let the music take him. All that really happens is a prickling of the hair on the back of his neck, and he can tell Billy's made his way back from the loo already.
After two dances, he goes back to the bar, but Billy's already gone. Apparently, he's had enough watching for the night.

Billy doesn't say a lot to him the next day. They're shooting different scenes, so they have different call times. Dom sleeps in an extra hour, and completely misses Billy in Feet and makeup. He sees Billy in the canteen at lunch time, but Billy's sitting with a few other crew members and some of the stunties. There aren't any seats open at Billy's table, so Dom sits with Sean Bean and they talk footie until it's time for shooting again.
Dom can't stop looking over at Billy, but he never catches Billy looking his way. For the rest of the day, he has a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.

"Billy!” Dom says, and runs across the parking lot. Billy stops and turns around, waiting for him. By the time Dom gets to him, he’s a little out of breath. "Hey, Billy."
"Hey, Dom." Billy says. The message to smile clearly reaches his mouth, but the rest of him seemed to have missed the memo. He looks tired, and there's dirt on his cheek. "What's up?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to go out tonight." Dom says. It takes more courage than he had imagined at would, and something about the way Billy is looking at him makes him want to ask Billy to forget he ever said it, and just walk away.
"Why?"
"Why, what?" Dom says, confused.
"Why do you want to go out? Why me? Why not that girl from last night?"
Dom's anger flares, and he starts speaking without even really knowing what he's saying. "Look, Billy. You gotta tell me what you want here. Don't do this... this thing. Whatever it is, that you're doing. Don't pull this shit with me, I thought we were better mates than that, if nothing else. We slept together, okay? I've slept with a lot of people, I didn't exactly make life-long pledges to all of them, either. If you want this to be more than fucking, you gotta tell me. I can't read your mind. I know you sort of have someone back home, I wasn't quite sure..." Dom trails off."
Billy's face is even more unreadable without even the facade of a fake smile. "I broke it off with her. A week ago, before we spent the night together."
"Oh." Dom says, a little surprised. "Um."
"I wouldn't have cheated on her with you." Billy says. "I wouldn't do that to her. Or you. Not going to say I've never cheated on anyone before in my life, but if I care about someone enough to be in a relationship with them, that's a pretty good indication that I won't fuck around. Just because I stopped being in love with her doesn't mean I don't respect her."
Dom feels very young, all of a sudden. "Sorry for... um. I guess, for thinking that you'd..."
Billy shrugs. "'s all right. I forget sometimes that we haven't really known each other that long." He stops, and rubs his eyes. "I can't do this casual thing with you, Dom, and it's the truth. I thought maybe I could, but..." His hand falls to his side, fingers twitching into a fist. "I can't. So if you want to see if there's something here," A brief gesture between the two of them. "Then I'd say all for it, but you can't go to a place with me and leave with someone else."
"I didn't leave with her," Dom says, a bit late but still wanting Billy to know.
"I know," Billy says, and for a moment he's sheepish. "I asked some of the other people that were there."
Dom grins. That was kinda cute, actually. "Right. So, um. You want to go out tonight?"
"As long as you understand..."
"Of course," Dom says, and takes a chance with a kiss, his mouth firm on Billy's for a few seconds, almost chaste when compared to some of the other snogs they've had. "I didn't mean a club or anything. Like, a restaurant. You know, a proper first date, and all."
"How romantic," Billy says, and turns to look at his car, a few feet away. "Shall we?"
"Sure." Dom reaches over and squeezes Billy's hand, then goes around to get in the car. On the drive to the restaurant, Dom does enough watching for both of them.
