Radek nodded absently, letting his eye fall to the sight of the gray sea rushing by below. Before long a darker gray line of mountains appeared on the horizon, reminding him of his last trip to the mainland. He thought then of how he had tried to describe skiing to Halling, and considered that now he might get the chance to show the man what he was talking about.

How ironic, he thought, that though his whole life he had striven to make his mark as an engineer, he might find his greatest contribution was that of being the man to introduce skiing to the Pegasus galaxy. The idea made him laugh, but there was a painful edge to it that he could not hide.

Selen regarded his lover in confusion as Radek let out a bark of laughter. He wished he had let Lahimi sit up front, but had worried that she might try to play with the buttons. Since he couldn't easily hold Radek's hand, he decided to try and distract him instead. "We will just have to keep each other warm, carus," he said, voice low and suggestive.

Radek smiled and bowed his head, feeling the warmth in his lover's words. "Of that I am certain," he said. "And I will be glad of it. I have known the 'pleasure' of winter camping before, but I did not have such comforts then."

"Our tents are quite warm," Selen answered. "They have withstood many winters." He glanced back at Radek. "Tell me of your time camping in the winter."
