The group all stayed close to Radek and Doran until they had to divide at the two jumpers. Kalana followed her group into Christoph's ship, keeping an eye on the children. Harju, as always, presented Challat with a challenge, but Osera stayed close to her mother, which was good, since Risan held her cousin's child, Dessa, asleep in her arms. Seeing ( Read more... )

He settled on the pilot chair and spun around to face the back, watching his passengers file on board. "Hallo," he said, smiling at them, waving at the kids. "Are we all here then?" he asked.

When Kalana sits beside him, he grins and nods. "Hey Kalana, ready to go?" The Athosians, for the most part, seemed to have a particularly well-assembled genetic structure. Christoph hadn't met a single unattractive one. He had his preferences, of course, but that didn't mean he couldn't appreciate attractiveness in other forms. Perhaps survival of the fittest worked for the Athosians in ways it didn't on Earth. Not anymore, anyway. It was something to think about, later.

"I am quite ready to be out among the trees again," Kalana answered. She gave him a frankly interested look. "It is quite stimulating, do you not think so?"

He grinned as he turned the chair back around to face the controls. "Yes, that's one thing that I miss about Earth, when I'm on Atlantis. I used to go hiking at least once a week back home." He kept an ear on comms, to make sure he didn't take off before his turn and interfere with the process. "I think being close to nature in some form is crucial to good health. It may be one thing that the Ancients forgot." He shrugged. While he was in awe of Ancient technology and science, and had to admit the Ancients were quite ahead of what Earth humans have done so far, he wasn't the type to idolize anybody. He'd be just as ready to point out a virtue as a flaw.

"The many windows and balconies were quite pleasant," Kalana said, somewhat saddened to see that he didn't seem to return her interest. He had shared a tent with Selen. Perhaps he was one of those strange men who only enjoyed the pleasures of other men. "And I have heard there were many plants-- long dead-- when you first arrived."

He nodded. "There were." He chuckled softly at the thought. "You would think the Ancients would've had enough foresight to take the plants with them. Then again, I suppose it wasn't that critical." He paused and turned to smile at her. "So, tell me about your plans for the mainland. What are you looking forward to doing once you're settled there?"
