Day 54, noon-ish; mess hall; attn: Ian, Peter, Elizabeth [f]

Jack had spent the morning alternately dozing and surfing the Atlantis servers, looking at the various movies that hadn't yet been properly labelled and categorised. He could at least feel somewhat useful, he supposed, and started watching, giving actual titles to files with names like 10938593.avi.

"That's it, Jack. Slow your breathing down," Kate said softly. "Could you give us some privacy please?" she asked Peter, Elizabeth and the Athosian woman. All three nodded their understanding and moved away. "Come back to now, whenever you're ready."

Now. What was now? He was in the mess hall. Coffee and vegetable soup. Jack focused on those aromas, trying to ignore the lingering scent of leather and smoke. He'd picked out a sandwich-- ham salad or tuna salad or the like. He tried to focus on what it would taste like, how hungry he was. The memory faded, the sense of violation abating, till Jack was left curled on the floor, trembling. He uncurled slightly, pulling his hands away from his head.

Kate didn't move towards the man as he appeared to come back to the present. "That's it Jack. Come back to the mess and focus on me if you can. You're safe and no one is going to hurt you," she said, her voice soft but full of strength.

Jack nodded, eyes still closed. He was almost afraid to open them and see how people were reacting to what had happened. If there'd been gossip about him before, it was going to be even worse now, rife with speculation. He opened his eyes and looked into Heightmeyer's face. "Hi," he said, sighing.

Kate gave Jack a soft smile. "Hi yourself," she replied. "Take your time before sitting up and I managed to clear the area so we have some privacy."
