Kate was able to grab a quick lunch with Adam before he left for the mainland and it increased her mood considerably. Her morning meeting had been miserable but that had more to do with the people involved then anything else. So it was with a brighter spirit that she made her first stop of the afternoon

The door chimed as Selen was shaping the mixtures into cones. He looked over at his lover. "Did you wish me to get that, carus?"

"Oh," he said again, realizing additionally that Selen's hands were covered with... something. "No, no, I can see you are busy. I will get it." He set his laptop aside, pushing himself up from the sofa stiffly.
"Moment!" he called as he made his way to the door, opening it a moment later.

Selen wished, not for the first time, that he could tell the woman to go away and leave them alone, but knew it to be a childish impulse. Radek relied on her good graces for the medicine he needed right now and so, for good or for ill, they had to tolerate her intrusions.

It would be, he realized suddenly as he walked with her to the sofa, a bad idea to tell her that he was planning on leaving with the Athosians tomorrow. Would Selen understand that, however? Would he be hurt if he heard Radek tell Heighmeyer that he had some other plans? Would he speak of it and reveal those plans to the doctor?
Radek directed his gaze back to Selen, meeting his eyes briefly and pleading silently, trust me; follow my lead. He turned back to Heightmeyer then, and asked her if she wanted any tea.
