Jack laid in the bed and waited as the Ancient machine checked him out. Ever since his encounter-- well, O'Neill's encounter-- with the Repository of Ancient Knowledge, letting anything Ancient near his head made him nervous, which made his head pound worse.

The tech-- whom Jack was pretty sure they'd borrowed from the biology department-- patted his hand and gave him a smile. "Almost done!" she announced cheerfully.

Just then, there was a burst of activity and Jack could hear Carson's distinctive voice ordering everyone around. The tech glanced back toward the main infirmary area and then smiled as the machine stopped humming. "Done! Let's get you back to your bed and I'll get this report to Doctor Beckett as soon as he's free."

"Don't hold your breath," Jack quipped as he sat up slowly.

She smiled. "Yeah. This is going to turn into a madhouse, it sounds like."

They made their way back to his bed. As soon as he was set, she was moving away to see what needed done. Jack closed his eyes and tried to ignore the cacophony.

Marran stood with Charin at the doorway to the infirmary allowing the two Lantean warriors and their charges to enter first. She rejoiced to see that one of those rescued was Kanaan and another the Lantean seeker-of-knowledge, Doctor Corrigan, who had often spoken to her people about their lives, families, and rituals. Between them was a woman of some years, though not elderly. The two rescued men watched her solicitously, hands hovering near her as if in fear of a misstep. Marran did not recognise the woman. She feared for a moment that this might be a Lantean or Athosian who had been young but a short time before, but who was now wraith-aged ( ... )

Carson was trying to get the most in need of medical care taken in first and he'd prepared the best that he could for those folks who had, in some way, been compromised by the wraith. He'd heard the rumors about Evan and felt his heart ache at the thought of it. Of course, he saw Laura sitting in the jumper and good lord but she looked a complete wreck.

Carson had noticed the Athosian healers approach and he greeted them warmly. He was terribly thankful for their help. "Thank you. As you can see we're a bit over run. If you wouldn't mind, could you look at the folks over there?" he asked as he pointed to a group of people that had been rescued. "Those folks are mostly dehydrated but some are having other some mild symptoms of mistreatment," he explained to them. Carson felt confident that they could help those people and maybe even identify where most of them were from considering they were an unknown group.

The last group to arrive was that of Laura Cadman, Evan Lorne and the small girl that still clung to Laura's hand. They were escorted by Lieutenant Miller, Sergeant Hendersson and Corporal DeFelice, and indirectly Doctor Weir ( ... )

Carson watched the healers walk over to the appointed group and begin their ministrations. His attention, however, was diverted to the new group of people entering the infirmary and he had to hide his alarm at how truly bad Evan and Laura looked. They seemed to have collected a child as well as a seemingly huge military escort.

Carson nodded to Elizabeth as he made his way to the new group. He did note how Laura and Even seemed to clump together and worried how best to separate them. There probably wasn't a good way to do it, but still it had to be done. "Laura, can you look at me? Lass I need you to let go of Major Lorne and go with Dr. Heightmeyer. She's going to take your vitals and place an I.V. and do a medical assessment for me," Carson explained gently and calmly. He'd called in Kate the same time he'd called in Pat. Granted Pat was scary and Kate had not as much practice as some folks, but it was the best he could due. He knew that no harm would be done and they could get more people settled.
