He really should get something for the headache, Rodney pondered, as he left the lab. After weighing the alternatives - clashing with Carson or having to stand the headache for another hour - Rodney decided running into Carson was worth the risk. He could be lucky and Carson was busy elsewhere, he hoped. And indeed, he was. Nurse Anne gave him a ( Read more... )

Peter was working through Rodney's repair list and now on level 9. The work itself wasn't hard, it was just that there was a lot of it and his mind was stuck in park. He had spoken to the scientists and seemed to soothe them to a degree. It had been hard because Radek was the buffer between Rodney and the others and now he was out of the picture. Hopefully, Carson would be that buffer for now.

Peter figured the more he finished, the quicker he could get back to his duties that brought him into contact with Elizabeth. He was lost in thought about his conversation with her at lunch so he didn't see Rodney until he bumped into him.

Feeling a bit better - the medicine had kicked in quickly - Rodney wasn't instantly tempted to angrily snarl.

"Careful with the head of sciences," he noted as he reached for the other man's shoulder to steady himself. As the other man looked at him, Rodney noticed it was Peter Grodin, who gave him a goofy grin. Unable to resist, he grinned back. "Hello, Pet, um, Dr Grodin. Are you in a hurry?"

Peter, grin in place, replied, "Hello Rodney." Did McKay just call him Pete? His grin grew at what he thought domestication must look like. Carson must be doing something right. "Sorry, about that. I admit, I was wool gathering."

Rodney hesitated for a very short moment. Since he'd slipped, and since Grodin already called him 'Rodney', maybe he should just stick with 'Peter', too.

"Wool gathering," Rodney repeated with a sigh. "I wish I had time for that." He frowned. "I had to get out of the lab, all this writing emails is driving me bonkers. I need to get some work done," he said, rolling his eyes. "Don't get me wrong," he elaborated. "I don't want to belittle Elizabeth's work, or yours. But I prefer working with my hands." He lifted his kit to underline his words.

Peter didn't mind paperwork but he could understand Rodney's point. "No offense taken, as I agree. I would prefer to do something that actually uses my brain. As for the the wool gathering, well, its more like an instant replay with a side of strategy," he said, keeping things vague. He had no intention of telling Rodney about hs feelings for Elizabeth. He could tell Carson with out facing censure but not McKay.
