Carson entered the room with a sigh. The afternoon had been a long one already, and a meeting wasn't his favorite thing, but he knew it had to happen.

"Elizabeth," he said in greeting, noticing he was the first one there. He claimed a seat and set his laptop down. "I hope your day's been a wee bit less stressful today." He knew how busy she'd been lately, trying to get the city back on its collective feet. No one was having an easy time of it. He didn't envy her the job of trying to lead them all through the aftermath of the chaos.

"Carson," she greeted him with all the warmth she felt in her heart to see him. Not so long ago she'd worried they'd never see him again and his homecoming had been bittersweet indeed. True to his nature, he'd put himself to work just as hard as everyone else, driven to make up somehow for the time he'd been away, and the hours and care showed on his face.

"Not necessarily less stressful," she answered him, "but a bit more hopeful, I think."

Carson gave her a wry smile. "No doubt," he said, then sighed. "Things are still a right mess, indeed."

He looked up as Halling and Charin entered the room and greeted them. "Dr. Weir, Dr. Beckett," he said. "I hope you are well this day." He waited until Charin took a seat before he sat himself.

"Good afternoon, Charin, Halling," Carson replied, rising as the older woman sat. He sat again as Halling did, then shifted his laptop into the seat next to him to save it for Rodney. "I hope you're both well today."

Halling smiled at the healer. "We are well," he said.

Charin smiled softly as well. "We are very glad you have returned to us, Carson," she said. She had chosen a seat next to the healer and reached out, patting his hand. Beckett flushed a bit and smiled shyly.

Laptop tucked under one arm, he approached the office and stepped in, his footsteps quiet but certain. He waited to catch Dr. Weir's eye and nodded, seeking an available chair and pulling it back to sit on it. He hadn't taken the time to shave this morning, but he'd combed his hair and pulled it back into a rubber band.

He had been catching up with everything that had happened while he was off-world, and still hadn't gotten over the guilt over having been away when everything was going down. He had buried himself in work, of which there was enough, more than enough, and while he was getting better at delegating, he still hoarded most of it for himself.

His old therapist had cautioned him about that. He met the other's gazes, nodded his greetings to them all. His gaze lingered on Carson. He had no designs on the man, but like many, had a definite soft-spot for the doctor.
