John waved Rodney back and repeated his previous actions. This time the door slid open almost soundlessly and he dodged forward, firing as soon as the wraith came into view. It was only after that the stench of the room hit him and he saw the bodies-- dried husks. One was wearing jeans and a tee-shirt. Another was in Athosian garb. The third was dressed in the colourful ceremonial clothing of the Paranalli. It was less than a second for this to all register as the wraith stumbled from the stunner blast, then recovered its footing. It was still coming.

Ruiz had no time to note anything but a huge freakin' Wraith headed right for them. Time seemed to slow, the Wraith's long white hair fanning out as it turned to contend with them.

A blast from a stunner caught it and it seemed to waver, but then took another step and kept coming. Should she shoot it? The major wanted it alive but she was damned if she was gonna lose anyone on this little jaunt. Another step closer, time still stretched in an unreal, dreamlike fashion. Her P-90 was at her shoulder, her finger gently squeezing the trigger before she consciously made a decision...

... and someone jostled her from behind. The bullet hit the creature in the shoulder instead of the head. The Wraith barely seemed to notice and took another step toward them, grimacing in a smile that was entirely too sharklike for Cari's taste.

There was a single shot from a P-90 and then some stunner shots as well as John took aim again. The wound in the shoulder was sealing up. It had fed well. It was going to be a pain to take down. He fired again and again as it took another step in their direction, then took another lurching and unsteady step. "Fall, you son of a bitch!" John muttered and fired again.

It folded suddenly and John stepped back a half-step to avoid being collapsed on. After a beat, he rolled it over with his toe. It was twitching, but seemed unable to move more than a couple fingers. He pulled some zip-ties out of a pouch and then looked down to meet its eyes.

His blood went cold. The tattoo was the same...

This was the wraith who'd fed on him.

Sometimes turnabout was a bitch.

Rodney tightened his fingers around the butt of his gun, sweat running down along his neck. His stomach churned, the stench of rotten corpses bringing back memories of the initial attack. As if in slow motion he watched the huge Wraith come closer the shots ringing in his ears.

The Wraith collapsed to Sheppard's feet and Rodney felt something bitter in his mouth. He turned away quickly, dropping his hand with the gun and grasping for the door frame for support as he bend over to retch.

Cari saw the damned thing go down and heaved a sigh of relief. Major Sheppard kicked it over and then froze for a beat. She kept her eyes on the Wraith and her P-90 pointed between its eyes.

Sheppard's hands appeared in her peripheral vision holding the plastic ties used to restrain prisoners. She just prayed it would actually hold this monster.
