Pat only heard them because she was close to the infirmary entrance when they arrived, the one man dragging the other in a half carry. He was tall and wild-eyed, and it took Pat a moment to realise that this was the same man she'd stitched in the corridor just the other day.

The other? Oh. The other was the young man who'd come to get her. Oh no.

"What's wrong?" she asked, rushing forward even as some of the Hoffan team did likewise.

"He's taken some pills," Kav answered in a rush, handing the Doctor the bottle he'd found in Chucks' jacket, the scene, too familiar, "He won't wake up. I needed to bring him here, I have a...hunch."

Kav dragged Chuck over to the closest empty bed, and settled the heavy man on it. It was only a five minute shuffle from their quarters to infirmary, but every step felt like he was carrying a mountain of rocks.

Chuck moaned as his feet were lifted onto the clean sheets, and Kav stepped back as the Doctor came forward, checking his partners' health.

Pat glanced at the bottle the man held toward her. Oh crap! she thought to herself. She recognised the handwriting on the label.

Stimulants. One's she'd been responsible for giving out.

One of the Hoffans began his ABCs, the recently-arrived team performing as efficiently as ever. They noted that he was breathing and his colour was good, but it was evident that his heart rate was elevated. He was sweating.

Oh fuck, she thought glumly. Carson's going to kill me. All these deaths by the Wraith and their fucking worshippers, and now we might lose one to an OD? On drugs that I was responsible for handing out?She knew it wasn't her fault if someone abused a medication, but damn -- if only they hadn't been so overworked, she might have noticed something. He had seemed a bit off the other day, but then, everyone did, so Pat hadn't thought much of it beyond in passing ( ... )

Carson had finally finished settling Dex down when he heard an all-too-familiar voice calling out for a scanner. Bloody hell, it was Pat. He'd told her not to come in to work, but she sounded tense and that was never good. He hurried out into the infirmary and saw Pat and one of the Hoffan surgical nurses near a bed. Rushing over, he asked, "Right, then, what's happened?"

Kavanagh was there and on the bed -- Chuck. Kavanagh looked terrified and Chuck appeared to be unconscious. Just what they all needed. He held his hand out for the scanner and the nurse slapped it into his palm. Running it over Chuck's prone form, he gestured for someone to tell him what was going on.

Kav looked helplessly as Dr Beckett walked in, waiting for an answer to his question.

Kav swallowed a few times, mouth suddenly gone dry in his panic of a situation that was not happening.

"He's taken pills, he won't wake up. He's shaky, distant, confused and sweating everywhere." Kav said quickly, "Or, he was, has been since I found him this morning."
