As soon as they were done, Ridley called Suzanne to see if she would join him for dinner and possibly a movie afterward. She'd agreed to meet him in the cafeteria in a few minutes and he headed in the direction of his quarters to get cleaned up. Suzanne rushed to the cafeteria, feeling a little better than earlier. The day had been too long, and the night before too short. She'd dealt with one crisis after another from the moment she'd been called from Lee's quarters the night before, and truthfully, she'd only managed to grab a handful of hours rest between crises ( ... )

He smiled, feeling strangely loopy with her around. "Oh, absolutely. The day was interminable. But one of the dead Ancient plants is a new species. I'm hoping there might still be spores." He held up his hand. "I know. It doesn't seem likely after ten thousand years, but seeds from Egyptian tombs have been successfully sprouted, so it's possible." He leaned forward and kissed the tip of her nose. "So, it was almost tolerable. Hungry?"

"Starving," she replied. "Honestly, I know in my head that this place could keep two thousand of us busy full-time, but having two of our department down right now is enough to kill me. I could eat a horse."

She stood again, tugging at Lee's hand. "Let's get something before its all gone, then you can tell me all about the plant you found."

She suppressed a giggle at the way he said spores, wondering, if they ever did manage to finish the film they were supposedly watching, whether Lee had stuff like Invasion of the Body Snatchers or Day of the Triffids stashed away on his hard drive.

"Yes. I'm terribly hungry as well. A couple powerbars while walking the unexplored sections of the city is hardly lunch." They got into line, Ridley slipping his hand to the small of her back. She was wearing her expedition jacket again. "Aren't you hot in that jacket?"

Suzanne quirked her eyebrows at him. "Monsieur," she mock protested. "But I am hot in any outfit, not just this jacket."

With an exaggerated pout, she tugged at the zip, acting out the part of the burlesque stripper for a moment, opening her jacket just enough that Lee might see ...
