Unconventional Wedding Reception

A friend's daughter was married a few days ago at their local courthouse.  The family and friends that attended the wedding all went back to my friend's house for appetizers and drinks.

My friend has sent out e-mail invitations inviting friends to a reception at a very expensive restaurant.  They have reserved space for 50 guests.  The one problem

Have you told your friend your opinion of the pay-for-it reception? At an expensive venue too. Imo this was insulting to all guests, esp to those with little money.

I totally agree with you, it is insulting. I've talked with a few of our friends that have been invited and we all think it's inconsiderate to have guests to pay for their meals and bring gift cards and money.

Perhaps you and the other guests should find a good way to ask the host to change this arrangement.
