We're coming up on performance evaluation season too - my boss says I've got nothing to worry about, which is good, but that our performance evaluations are (as always) completely irrelevant to whether or not we actually get raises since whether or not anyone in the organization can get raises is always set by how much of our funding the state requires us to give back in a given year... and yes, it is a bit demoralizing to work really hard to try to get a good performance evaluation and know it doesn't actually make a darn bit of difference to your income as long as you do well enough to not get fired. Ah well. ^^;; There are theoretically hopeful-sounding rumblings coming from the new governor, but I'll only believe it when I see it since part of his ability to give us a 1% raise seems to hinge on passing a 50% income tax hike, sooooo yeah give with one hand and take (more) away with the other. *sigh*
Ew....okay, that DOES suck. A coworker was telling me about the time last year he was up for a raise...but didn't get one because they'd just started a payfreeze!
