I wouldn't've used "asperity", and I would have changed "the Narshe mountains" to "the Narshe range", but those are differences of style rather than anything you did WRONG, per se.

I'm surprised that Celes didn't know what they were looking for. Why was she going through hip-deep snow following him to an uncertain objective? That doesn't square with the idea of the competent/prepared general.

(Nice link of Celes -> Shiva with the line about "she could have walked nude through the Narshe snowfields in the depths of winter and not risked even taking a chill".)

I'm interested in a sequel, fluffy or not. :)

Hmm, fair enough. I did struggle with that bit regarding asperity, but ultimately decided to leave it in because I didn't like any of the other ways I tried phrasing it.

You raise a good point about her not knowing, although in the backstory I ended up deleting, I had a "oh, come on, it'll be fun! It's late enough in the springtime that it'll be warm, and can't you trust me just the once?" puppydog kind of coaxing from Locke, that I ended up cutting because I didn't care for how dragged-down it got.

The Shiva link is actually how the whole fic bunny started; Celes is Ice as Terra is Fire, and I wondered what alternate effects that might've had on the two of them, which is something I kind of poked at in this.

I may end up turning this into the prequel to a rather warped and twisted half-novel idea that I think I had discussed with you a couple years back that involves lots of dark evil stuff and killing of people.

YAY FOR PREQUELS OMG.

I'd still like to see some sort of thought about how when she agreed to this she didn't think she'd be slogging through hip-high snow. You know? Just to pull it back into character.

Oh, and I notice that Locke doesn't ANSWER her question about the armor/etc not working. Interesting.

Ahahaha. Slight writer's laziness. Although potential opening for later shinies. Oh, hey...*brain running off with plotbunnies*

Darnit, you did it to me again!
