Monday Minis

A corner of the conference room. I can't find the exact chairs, but I found some that capture the spirit of those particular chairs. Plus they cost me next to nothing.

My picture, and a screencap for comparison )

I love the setup! (Still love those blinds.) :)

Did you make that table?

No, I didn't make the table. Just painted the legs, which were brass before. I want to get at least three more of those tables. I did make an extra set of stand-in blinds for this scene. They're paper. The real ones will be made out of something sturdier.

Thanks. :D

The crossword puzzles are a nice touch!

You're definitely right that the chairs still capture the essence without you needing to spend what it would take to find actual miniatures of those chairs. I know they make mini models of them since they're a famous design, but I think even the mini versions cost over $200.

I also love the blinds. :D

I haven't found the exact chair yet. This is a chair I've contemplated for a while, but I think it's too bulky and too pricey, because I'm cheap:

There are also mini director's chairs in black, which I thought might work, but they too were at least $15.00 per chair.

I got four of the ones in my picture, plus 12 more mini items in a lot sale for about $30, so it was a good deal.

Thanks. :D

Here's the chair, but like I said, these "official" miniatures cost a fortune. Over $200 per chair, which is ridiculous. These are made for architecture nerds who are obsessed with mid-century modern furniture. It's Marcel Breuer's Wassily chair. (Had to memorize this stuff in my history of interior design classes. I am a repository of mostly useless furniture knowledge ( ... )

Oh wow, and that's not even exactly the same, plus it's 1:6 scale. I'm working with 1:12 scale. It's pretty amazing though.

The Eames Lounge chair in 1:12 is available for about $40.00 at various mini sites. I've only seen it in black and cream colored though, and I think House's is yellow. I'd been thinking of trying to make it, but it's probably too ambitious for my skill-level. Eventually I'll cave and buy that one, I think.

Thanks for the info.
