She's in the Reading Library surrounded by yards and yards of string. It's all neatly coiled in little piles according to colour and thickness. She has a loom in her lap and is expertly making something rather festive-looking. She has a small tablet computer on a near-by table for easy reference ( Read more... )

She smiled up at him as she threaded another piece of yarn through the loom, adding another little bit to the already-completed bottom-half of a red boot and half a fighter jet.

"Decorations for the bar. We've heard so much of this particular holiday that I thought I would try my hand at some of these designs, now that we have a place to decorate."

She nodded at the already made items. "I wanted surprise John with stockings for Olympus' staff, to be hung behind the bar."

And sure enough, she had one red stocking with "Jenn" written across the top and a simple stethoscope design on it among the various other decorations she had piled up.

"Yes," she said with a grin. "I will make yours as soon as I am finished John's."

She nodded in agreement to his second statement. "Yes. This is one of the few years in which it has become so...intensely celebrated."

Where else would the man learn more about humans and what had happened over the centuries he had been frozen on that planet. With a reference pad in his hand he looked around for somewhere to sit, stopping when he found a woman he had not seen before making something. Curious as ever he moved towards her, watching as her fingers worked.

"What is it you are doing?"

Teyla offered the new-comer a smile. "I am making decorations. And gifts, in a manner of speaking."

She holds up her loom to show him the partially completed design. "I am making something called a Christmas stocking for Colonel Sheppard."

"For the human holiday of Christmas?" He raised an eyebrow as he watched her, "Is this what you're making this for?"

"Yes," she replied with a nod. "I thought I would do something nice, since I have nothing but time on my hands at the moment."

She managed to hide a grin as she caught the skulking McKay.

"I can still see you, Rodney, despite your best efforts at evading detection," she said, gently teasing. "You could, at the very least, come over to say hello."

"Hello, Rodney," she said in response, smiling at the perpetually annoyed scientist. "How are you?"

She had yet to find the information she sought in the Atlantis database, and while it would have been poetic, she doubted she would have had the ability to inscribe anything in the library.

Still, it was worthwhile to see at least what had changed since her last visit. She did not get a chance to investigate before her gaze fell on Teyla, and the loom.

Curious, Elizabeth approached with a smile. "Feeling festive?"

With a chuckle, Teyla wove another couple of lines into her design. "In a manner of speaking. Now that we have an official place to decorate, I thought I would lend a hand."

Elizabeth nodded. It would not be a proper Atlantis holiday without an Athosian touch to the decorations and to the traditions.

"It looks like it might just outshine the rest."

"I hope so," she admitted. "It has been quite some time since we have had any real chance to celebrate for the mere sake of celebration."
