if you are ever in a bad mood

I dare you to watch the last four minutes of the pilot of Glee and not feel better. Seriously, I dare you. I'm not sure how much impact it might lose if you skip the setup, and I have my issues with how very exaggerated everything about the show is (though admittedly I enjoyed it anyway -- but, you know, music and school stories, two of my ( Read more... )

Oh man, this is why I <3 you so much. I think a new viewer will miss a lot if they just join in for the last four minutes, but I also think that's OK! The way the other parties (cheerleaders/football dude) leer at them is something I really liked but that you can only appreciate from seeing the rest of the episode.

Nevertheless...yes, I agree with this post. I think I'm so emphatic about this because I suggested the very same thing to Peter a few weeks ago. Even went so far as to create a custom clip on Hulu for myself so that when I click the link, it takes me directly to the last scene. The last line before the cut is pretty simple, but for some reason was very emotionally charged for me. And while it has lost some of its strength through repeated exposure, it still has some oomph for me everytime I rewatch.

That one scene was enough to pick me up out of a funk last week. The message is pretty much impossible to not absorb. So yeah, <3 again.

Yes, exactly. I totally agree that watching the whole thing provides better context for the reaction of the other high school factions, but it's still delightful out of context. Journey! Don't Stop Believin'! ♥!

What did you pick as your last line before the cut?

Oh, no, I meant the last line before the cut of the episode. So basically the line the teacher delivers while the uplifting spirit of his appearance is still welling up. Then credits suddenly! That's the line I meant.

I can't wait to start watching this in September.
