Fun weekend

Friday night lordaerith went to go see How to Train Your Dragon. It was a fairly typical kids movie plot, but ZOMG SO CUTE! Want dragon!!! We went to the Lake Creek Drafthouse where that night they were also playing all three Evil Dead movies and so some of the waitstaff were dressed up like zombies. It was truly awesome.

Saturday we headed over to pyroyo007's for ( Read more... )

*breathes some fire in your general direction*

Though admittedly, the training tends to go the other way.

I want a dragon too. OMG more than I can say. Atm, though, it's bad enough having an adorable boyfriend attempting to blame me for his repeated comments about wanting to see it. ... Cause I'm the one who informed me we have plans this weekend because we need to see this movie.

Also, spoiled cats. My roommate had me cat sit for a few days, and yes, this involved feeding them twice a day. But if I'd stayed til she came back, I would have spent my entire spring break sitting on the couch in my apartment, alone (since she was supposed to come back in 2 days and stayed ... a week). So what happened? The cats got vast quantities of dry food, a tiny bit extra wet (I don't give my cat wet, but she gives them tons... her cats, her call I guess), lots of water, and they got left alone for about 3.5 days. And they're fine. In fact, one of them is getting quite fat despite the no-wet-food diet he was on briefly.

If you think that's bad, we feed ours three times a day. Boris gets wet food in the morning and at night and dry in the middle of the day. Natasha gets fed dry (generally) when he gets fed, otherwise he'd eat all her food. This may sound crazy, but due to this diet, Boris has lost 5lbs and has managed to keep it off.

Wet food is actually better for cats than dry because it has more protein, which is most of what a cat's natural diet consists of anyway.

I think this is like the coffee is good for you because it helps your heart, it's bad for you because it's addictive and has other negative effects argument. Two sides to it. But I've had 3 vets now tell me adult cats should not have wet food. And yeah, feeding more times a day is better for weight for humans and cats. Unfortunately, when you have a doctoral student (or two, depending on if I'm there or not) responsible for your care, you don't have time or presence to feed more often. But we are working on an auto-feeder fund for the cat so she can eat 4 times a day (and not wake us up at 6am for her food).
