Last week was the start of the Spring semester. It was the first week of my last semester of classes for my Masters. I'm not graduating until this summer because I'm going to be doing my Amazing Capstone Project™ then

I think you and I would have similar doctoral interests. Essentially, my interests are how we communicate online, and a study of the language that is evolving, based on age groups, fluency, length of time online, different interactions in different virtual worlds, etc.
The sad thing is that I know what I would write a dissertation on...but to the degree that I have zero interest in spending another two years studying bullshit masters classes. European colleges have a very different masters/doctoral program - essentially, you spend years researching and studying and discussing with an adviser, and eventually write a dissertation and get a Ph.D. The whole "You have to spend two more years in classes before we'll give you the opportunity to be a real researcher!" doesn't exist.
*shrug* I love most of the classes that I've taken at the iSchool. Sure the core ones can sometimes be a pain, but overall I've had a great experience. Then again, I want to be an Online Collections Initiative Manager when I grow up.
Yeah, I think that I'd've probably enjoyed the classes a fair bit if I hadn't started out with a crappily taught core one. :P
At this point, if I went back it would either be for an MBA (Eww I feel dirty!) on Apple's dime, or for a ph.d on my own. If I went with the MBA route, I'd only be going for classes, because I don't have a research interest in business. :P If I went with a ph.d., I'd have to find a program that could - basically - immediately let me research, even if I also had to do classes.
But then again, what would I do with a ph.d, other than teach, and I'm not sure I'm interested in teaching. :P
