Part 4 Open Mic Night 5/?
Jared was nervous. He'd spent most of his shift trying not to think of spending the night at Jensen's house, but his mind was a traitor. It didn't help that he was working with Chad.
"So, when does your snuggle bunny get here?"
"Please don't call him that. His name is Jensen."
"Fine, when does your snuggly wuggly Jensen get here?"
Jared sighed. "Later. He has some sort of project due. He did say he wrote some new songs, though."
Chad bopped his head as he filled the grinder with fresh expresso beans. "Right on. I see you brought a bag with you. Have big plans for the night?" Chad waggled his eyebrows as Jared moved to fill the milk cooler.
"Just...shut the fuck up, Chad. Please. I really like him, and I don't want your...you-ness to scare him off. He's shy."
Chad shrugged and turned to help a group of teenagers. Three Italian Sodas later, Jared looked up to see Jensen walking in the door. He grinned as Jensen headed over to the counter. His dark gray t-shirt stretched across his shoulders and clung perfectly to his flat belly.
Jared let himself do a quick internal gig. He was gonna get himself some of that. He was mildly surprised by how much he hoped Jensen would be around for the long haul. He'd been concentrating so long on college that he'd pushed aside any desire or thoughts about a relationship.
He was in a relationship. He was in a relationship with a total hottie. He was totally gonna work on his swagger.

Jared took his break when it was Jensen's turn to play. He still found it amusing that Jensen could go on a stage and play for total strangers, but the man panicked if a waitress asked him a question.
Jensen's voice was rough as he started singing, and Jared closed his eyes as Jensen sang about rivers and love. His lyrics were simple, but he had an amazing way with words.
Jared was dating a poet. He was going home with a gorgeous, lyrical god.
Jared spent the rest of his shift in a slight daze. He'd squeezed Jensen's shoulder after he came off the stage, but kept quiet out of respect for the other musicians.
He'd never been so relieved when closing time finally came, and he locked the door after the last customer with a sigh of relief. Jensen was gathering dirty cups off of tables as Chad began loading the dishwasher.
"Jensen? Dude, you so don't have to do that," Jared spoke softly, feeling strangely subdued. Jensen shrugged, smiling softly. "I don't mind, and the sooner you get done..."
Jared grinned, "Right, sooner I get done..." He nodded as he went to clean out the pastry case. They moved quickly, and Jared was setting the alarm in fifteen minutes.
Chad gave a jaunty wave as he headed off to his car. Jared had rode his bike to work, and Jensen helped him load it into the back of his pickup. Jensen had explained that a truck came in handy for the animals that he fostered, and Jared had almost whimpered with glee.
Jensen was like a match.com wet dream mixed with the best hit of ecstasy ever.
Yeah, so Jared's life was officially awesome. Huh. He didn't really know what to do about that. He could feel the cartoon anvil waiting to fall on his head. Forcing his thoughts aside, Jared jumped into the passenger seat of Jensen's truck and watched as they sped through the familiar neighborhood.
Jensen lived in a small ranch style house; framed with huge oak trees and bordered by shrubs. Jensen pulled into the garage, and turned to smile at Jared.
"I have a couple of really excitable dogs, so, uh, if they barrell into you.."
Jared waved a hand, tugging his door open. "I love dogs."
He followed Jensen through the door, entering into the kitchen. The house seemed to have an open floor plan, and he looked around in mild awe. It was beautiful. Hardwood floors, huge windows, and mismatched furniture greeted him as Jensen began flipping on lights.
He heard them before he saw them, and the sound of doggy nails echoed across the house before two gigantic animals slid around a corner and launched themselves at Jensen. They were surprisingly quiet as they pushed against his legs.
Obviously, Jensen's quiet was contagious. Would he catch it, too?
Jared moved slowly across the kitchen and into the living room. Jensen looked up, his eyes gleaming with affection. Jared smiled as he fell to his knees so he could carefully run a hand over the closest dog. She turned toward him, licking his hand eagerly and offering huge ears to be rubbed.
"Her name is Sadie, and she was abandoned a couple of months ago. Not sure why 'cause she's amazing. Smart, sweet. This huge lug is Harley. He was abused, but you wouldn't know it to look at him." Harley woofed softly at his name and butted against Jensen's thigh.
Jared spent a few minutes cuddling with Sadie and Harley as Jensen put his guitar away. He could hear Jensen's soft voice ordering pizza, and he finally pulled himself up when Jensen came over to offer him a beer.
"This isn't what I expected," he commented as he moved around the living room. Jensen's huge bookcases were carefully organized, and Jared smiled to himself at the huge collection of horror movies that graced Jensen's shelves.
"Pumpkinhead? Hellraiser? Evil Dead?" Jared teased as Jensen shrugged. "You have some surprising layers, dude."
Jensen frowned slightly. "I guess I have a thing for horror movies, but we can watch anything you want. " Jared nodded and went back to checking out the little house.
Paintings hung all over along with posters of local bands. Odd pieces of pottery sat upon random small tables and along the shelves.
"My sister and her best friend are in art school," Jensen explained, coming up behind Jared as he studied an oil picture of a woman begging for money.
"Wow, that's really...depressing," Jared commented, turning to land a kiss on Jensen's soft lips. Jensen smiled, tugging Jared's body closer.
"Yeah, but it seems to thrill them when they come over and everything is displayed," he murmured as he ran his fingers through Jared's hair.
They kissed lazily, hands roaming across broad shoulders.
The ringing doorbell finally pulled them apart. "Pizza," Jensen muttered as he headed toward the front door. Jared closed his eyes, willing his body to calm down for at least a little while.
They ate in the small kitchen, quietly talking about the musicians that had played that night. Jared had been amazed by how talented some of the crowd were.
Jensen finally got up to let the dogs out. Jared followed behind, marveling at the backyard. A huge pecan tree loomed in the corner, and he could see where part of the fence had been damaged by a broken branch.
"I could help you fix that tomorrow," Jared offered, walking over to examine the fence. Jensen, obviously startled by the offer, came behind him. "Jared, man, you don't have to..."
Jared cut him off with a laugh. "Nah, my dad made me do all sorts of shit like this when I was a kid. It'll be nice. Sunshine. Beer. Man's work."
Jensen laughed. "Man's work, huh? Ok then. Thanks."
They watched the dogs playing for a while before herding them inside for the night. Jared stuck The Thomas Crown Affair into the dvd player, and they settled onto the couch together. They made it through the opening scene before hands began to wander.
Jared kissed a trail down Jensen's neck, his fingers tugging at the gray shirt. Jensen closed his eyes as Jared tugged the soft cotton off and began to nip hungrily at Jensen's nipples. Jensen let out a soft whimper as Jared pulled away to press a rough kiss against his soft mouth.
Teeth and tongues met as they kissed, Jensen slowly sinking down on the couch as Jared laid across him. Jared could feel Jensen's erection against his thigh and sucked harder on Jensen's tongue.
They kissed until he was so dizzy he could barely breath, and he finally pulled away. Jensen blinked in confusion, his eyes hazy.
"Bedroom?" Jared asked.
