The Computer Is Your Friend: Technological Iconoclasty

I just realized this morning that I have always and consistently been a technological iconoclast, as far as my choice of computing environment.

My systems have always run AMD processors, with the exception of the 8088 I had for less than a week before upgrading it to an AMD 286.

actually, I ran winME for a long time with no problems. I positively refused to run win95 or 98, and ran OS2 instead (yeah, yeah, half an operating system ... don't worry, I heard them all). I "upgraded" from OS2 to ME partly because of sitting next to a guy on the train wearing an IBM name badge and using a windows laptop, and he confirmed that os2 really was dead, and partly due to an unsolvable printer error.

the printer error later turned out to be rabbit-related rather than os2 related, but by that time I'd migrated.
