A cliché is merely something used often enough to be recognized as a convention. It doesn't mean it isn't true, or that it doesn't often happen.
Although the car rolling over and bursting into flames is definitely a Hollywood one. *wry grin*
Here's a non-cliché one for modern times I witnessed once; a law-enforcement officer with only three tickets left in his/her book, looking to use them up.
