Got Any Advice/Recs?

I'm sure many of you guys have faced this question from believers of all types "How can morality exist without God?"  As of right now, I don't feel like I have a solid answer to that question.  If we all die and there is no afterlife and no God, how can there be ultimate justice or a sense of morality?  Why do our actions matter?  What is the difference between good and bad if every action and experience leads to the same end- death, and the cessation of conciseness/being.  I'm not trying to agitate anyone so I'm sorry if this post sounds a bit naive, but I've only recently let go of all my beliefs in God or any other supreme being, and I was raised in an extremely religious environment so I don't exactly know where to look or who to ask when facing these types of questions.  I believe that one can have a sense of morality which is divorced from the idea of God but I want to have a solid argument for my beliefs concerning this matter (after all, the need for reason and logic is probably why we're all atheists).  I would very much appreciate it if you guys could point me toward some books (my bookshelf needs to be filled!) essays, or even your own thoughts regarding this issue.  I need some atheists who are more well versed in philosophy and all that jazz to give me their perspective, cuz we don't all want to turn into murderers, right? :)
