Don't hold your breath ... I waited 11 months & 2 days to see a Psychologist (after being referred by the Psychiatrist). Then, having seen her twice, I had to wait several weeks for an assessment she wanted, and am now waiting for another appt to see her.

I don't know what the availability of Psychologists is where you are, but they're very thin on the ground here, and I've added the extra problem of wanting to see her locally. On the upside, they don't limit therapy to a given number of weeks/sessions but give each client all the time they need. Hence the long waiting time, of course.

Oh, I know how bad the wait times can be.

Thing is, I'd actually seen a psychologist once 'here' before. She saw me twice and then punted me off to an Anxiety group thing, which didn't help at all (in fact I never completed the course, after two goes).

When I did finally get back in touch with my psychiatrist I was hoping he'd punt me back to the psychologist, because, you know, what she last tried failed. But no.

So, chances are that come January I'll be trying to muster up enough lack of brain fail to move myself back to London where at least I'll be within easy reach of friends and social activity, even if I still face a year and more wait for any worthwhile treatment.

Hmmm ... hindsight's a wonderful thing, but maybe you should've got in touch with the Psychologist direct to tell her the group thing wasn't working? By getting back to the trick-cyclist, you might have effectively started a whole new referral procedure.
