Introduction/Questions about Marlovenn Hess

My friend first introduced me to Mel/Vidanric/Savona etc. when I was in middle school. I especially loved the second half when Mel went to court. I loved her interactions with the other characters especially with Savona and Vidanric. A few years ago, I found out that there's more books about Mel's world. After reading the Inda series, I fell in ( Read more... )

What kind of clothes do the Marlovens (civilians, Jarls, Jarlans etc.) wear during Senrid's time (outside of the Academy)?
There's description in Stranger to Command of them--not a great deal of difference from Ivandred's day, with small changes that go in and out of fashion. Marlovens dress for comfort and practicality, with certain elements of design that show off male or female figures.

What are women's role in Marloven Hess now?

Under Senrid's uncle, they lost a lot of ground, which they are in the process of recovering. A hint about future stories--the academy is going to go through a bunch of changes as the war approaches, happens, ends. But it will end with females and males in the academy. There are a couple of stories set there.Marloven Hess doesn't seem to be all that friendly with its neighbors. What are the neighboring countries opinion about their Marloven ancestors (Technically, they are Marlovens or descendants of Marlovens. Unless I am mistaken these countries were once part of Isaca Leror which became Marloven Hess ( ... )

Alas, the video link says that it does not exist.

To a certain extent, you are right about Marloven clothes and ancient China; during Inda's day, think of the clothes of Northern India during the Moghul period for both men and women, That's the closest I've found to what I've pictured.

Colend's fashions have changed a lot over the years, but there is a constant: flow. No stiff, odd things like certain periods of western history, so I think China is actually a good comparison for line as well as for fabric.

I loved Lasva's portrait on the book cover. It was beautifully done and it really fit her description.

The artist did a nice job with her face, though the dress of course was all wrong. (and no one would notice such a detail but me!)

Well, fashions are going to go through three major changes over the next series of stories.

And Antiphony is centered around the Silver Feather festival. So . . . it might be best to wait!

I really hope you write a part in a story where Ivandred escapes. I was sad when he was taken do you have any plans for this?

Oh, yes. He comes back. (And so does Fox.)

And Senrid will also find the hidden Fox record.
