Whatever. If he was going to die, better just get it over with. He walked over and said, “House, we need to talk.”

Snape was mental. House knew that from the start - it was part of his charm - but he had gone from mental to totally and completely fucking mental. (Maybe he and Wilson should become better friends. Wilson always did love Snape in the books. Guess the television shows are right: you should never meet your heroes.)

“So, if I understand this correctly, you are upset that Harry is making friends; however, you were upset before because he hadn’t made any friends? Are you….” House waved his hand off. He didn’t know. He just didn’t know.

And where was Wilson? He was supposed to have showed up fifteen minutes ago.

"That's beside the point," Snape argued petulantly. "This from a man who drank himself into oblivion when Wilson disappeared," he added, glaring at House.

He wasn't upset that Harry was making friends, he knew that was a good thing. But it also meant Harry was bound to figure out that people were right, and he should be with someone else.

He refused to let Harry know his fears and obviously it had been a bad idea to tell them to House.

"Why do I even bother?" he muttered, taking a sip of scotch.

He was about to continue when they were interrupted by a boy Snape didn't recognize.

Oh, fuck that. Both of them knew that they didn't talk about THAT. That was the fact both were hopelessly in love with their significant other, for better or worse. House just glared at Snape about the Wilson comment, "You bother because you are a sad and pathetic old man."

“House, we need to talk.”

House looked over and saw Charlie standing there. "Yeah?"

"Takes one to know one," Snape replied, ignoring how childish it made him feel.

"Shall I leave the two of you alone?" he asked, eying Charlie warily.

Charlie really didn't want to tell the tales of his latest drama in front of Snape. Then again, maybe he needed Snape there. House might not kill him if Snape witnessed it.

Then again, according to the rest of the town, Snape was a cold-hearted murdering bastard -- and a wizard. Shiiiiiit.

Charlie sat down. He looked House straight in the eye and said, "Where's Wilson?"

Snape arched a brow and leaned back in his seat. He didn't, however, remove the wand.

House saw the wand on the table. Oh, Snape.

"What about Neil? And where is Wilson?" If Wilson... No, House would not even think it. They were doing good! What the fuck. Did he have to get out his cell phone?

"I don't know where Wilson is. Jesus, you two have the most fucked up relationship!"

Snape snorted, fairly certain that honor belonged to him.

"Savvy?" Snape asked, amused. "That man's idea of dealing with problems is to run away like a scared child," he scoffed.

Not that he was much different, but still, it was the principle of the thing.

"Hey, guess what? Now one wants to hear your bitch about my wife." If House still had his cane, he would've smacked him -- where it hurt.

Snape snorted. "If it wasn't true, you'd have more of a valid defense."

“Are you suggesting that he’s a possessive, paranoid, insecure jackass? Oh, wait, that’s you! You two would get along if that’s the case. You don’t even know him.”

"I think Harry would rather eat his own spleen then spend an evening in your company House," Snape said, ignoring the rest.

House pulled out his cell phone. He gave Charlie a look that said 'I'll deal with you later' and 'You're dead'. He called Wilson and got the voicemail. "Honey bunches, we're having Harry and Snape over for dinner tonight. I also need you to by some padding for Neil's room. We have yet another family crisis. I'm at the jazz bar. You should be here too."

He snapped his phone shut. He glared at Snape. There. Done. Tough shit.
