Wilson nodded to Charlie and smiled a bit. This was who had kept Neil 'good', this was who Neil lived with during all the recent chaos. He liked Charlie, but tonight he approved of him that much more.

Sipping his drink idly, he turned toward the bar to give them privacy. House wasn't going anywhere. Not yet, anyway.

Charlie nodded at Wilson.

"Where's the Captain?" Charlie said in a low voice, so Wilson wouldn't hear. "Joe wants him to perform for a bit."

"Not here," House said. "But we had a rendezvous, so I expect him whenever."

"Tell him Joe is looking for him. Appeal to his exhibitionism." Charlie nodded, and bid before of them ado before heading over to Neil's table.

Neil watched as Charlie went first to House's table and began talking to him. He tried not to let it get to him; this was Charlie's show, Charlie's night. He'd heard enough of Neil's whining and ranting about his pseudo-family, and if he wanted to talk to him tonight, Neil wouldn't show any signs of disapproval.
In fact, he smiled when Charlie sat down beside him. "Hey," he kissed him quickly, "You were wonderful."

"Thanks," Charlie took a seat. "Did you order a drink?" He kept smiling. He didn't really know what else to say, and he tried not to look at House and Wilson. If he did, then Neil would, and then things would spiral out of control. Charlie so wasn't into that right now.

"No," Neil answered. "Not really up for a buzz tonight, actually."
It was true. He felt okay tonight; calm, at ease. He hadn't felt like that all too often lately, and he didn't want to waste it by blurring everything around the edges. And if he'd really seen what he thought he'd seen over at House's table... all the better. "They seemed to be... okay with each other," he said, knowing he didn't need further elaboration.

Wilson glanced over his shoulder and saw Charlie headed toward the table Neil was sitting at.

"Everything alright?" he asked House, looking down into his glass again.
