Who: Spike and Buffy. Where: Hotel room 204. When: Saturday night. Why: Because they need to, ahem, talk. Status: Open. Rating: PG for now. It’s Spike and Buffy in a hotel room. You do the math.
Spike didn't know how to deal with it. After the mess in LA and the indeterminable time on the run, he was certain that the only bits of his old life that would follow him would be the bad parts. The Senior Partners would find him and finish what they started. The First would have gathered its strength and come after him again now that he was weak. Hell, he wasn't even all that surprised to find out that Xander Harris was in the neighborhood, probably intent on mocking him into full-blown insanity.
But... Buffy? No one had told him. He was sure that the presence of a vampire Slayer should have been mentioned once everyone knew they had a new vamp in town. Out of decency, at least.
But Spike couldn't worry about that now. Not only was she in town and aware that he was no longer dead, but she was on this very floor. Nothing else matter but making the short journey to the room just a few doors over and seeing her before someone told her things she shouldn't know about him. Who knows who else from his past managed to find their way

"No sorry," Spike whispered quietly, as though afraid of ruining this perfect delusion. His senses told him it was real, but his caution was always present in the back of his mind, warning him against putting his all in anything when he was as fragile as he had been earlier that night. "Don't be sorry. Just be you

Spike nearly smirked at her comment, a welcome sign that he was once again comfortable in his own skin. "Well, you can," he remarked sarcastically in reply to her comment about breathing. "I'll just have to content myself with watching you."
Hugging her to his chest, Spike thought about the irony in the situation. He had come to her, worn out and mad... only to leave her feeling exhausted. Then again, she had every reason to be. All of his conceit about his abilities aside, Spike had no idea what had happened to her after Sunnydale or how she had ended up here. And while he knew that one of her friends was in town, that meant that the others were scattered about elsewhere. Now wasn't the time for the questions that both of them surely had, but that didn't matter. There was tomorrow. There always would be tomorrow
