She'd kept right on driving until she'd started seeing double. Digging into her glove compartment, she'd grabbed her glasses and put those on, but things were a bit sharper than they had been a moment ago. Still two of everything, though.

Spotting a sign that had said 'Aternaville: 5', Shane had breathed a sigh of relief as she'd steered her truck towards the turn-off.

Tooling along the main drag at a slow, steady pace, she'd glanced at her watch and seen that it was four AM. Still, the lines on the road were probably just going to keep right on cloning themselves until she got some rest.

So she'd followed the main street a ways until she saw what looked like a park. Turning in at her first opportunity, Shane parked her truck, shut off the engine, and made sure her doors were locked. Probably not entirely necessary, since the place had seemed - even in the dark - to be pretty nice. All the same, her instincts told her that even nice places had bad people in them, sometimes. She'd slipped off her glasses and returned them to the case in her glove box so she'd know where they were.

Wedging her shoulder into the corner where the drivers' side door and the truck's bench seat met, she'd folded her arms over her chest, leaned her head against the window and had finally closed her eyes.

She slept on, well into the morning and early afternoon.
