Kurt had decided on an outfit in record time and was rather proud of himself. He'd gone deceptively simple with a striped top and one of his favorite McQueen scarves. He was only just arranging the delicate flutter of it down his front when he started as the television in his room crackled and sparked to life, the screen blinking on during the "Nina" number of The Pirate, Gene Kelly jumping over balconies and chasing women across the screen. Kurt blinked at the screen, shocked, then crossed to the set. He turned it off and the image flicked off. As his heart slowly calmed he edged back to the mirror, trying to think of Blaine coming to get him, movie night, it would be fun ( ... )

Damien was right-- Kurt was late. Blaine had spent a little too long on his hair before leaving to pick him up, and then when he finally got to Wes's, no one came to open the door. He rang the doorbell, knocked, and waited, knocked again, waited. Finally, Wes answered and said sorry, Kurt must still be in his room.

Blaine thanked him, made a little small talk, before heading to the room in question. He tapped a knuckle against the slightly open door to warn of his presence, then pushed it open. "Kurt? You ready?"

But Kurt wasn't in front of the mirror or at his closet. He was sitting on the floor against the wall, looking frighteningly pale and completely distressed. With a gasp, Blaine rushed over. "Kurt? Are you okay?"

The television had shut off the instant the door opened and Kurt was just left siting against the wall and trying to breathe. His eyes stayed on the television for a long moment, not turning toward Blaine.

"The... tv, it..." His breathing shook and he forced it to still. "Fine, I'm fine."

Blaine looked from the TV, which was off and silent, to his boyfriend, brow furrowed in concern. He crouched down and touched Kurt's knee. "You don't really look fine. You're really pale, Kurt."

By the time Damien had reluctantly put the ice cream away, it had long since occurred to him Anderson and Hummel weren't coming. More popcorn had been made, but only because he was hungry, not because he was hoping that if he made it, the mere action of it would summon the two lovebirds.

'At least Grayson had the tact not to stand me up.' The boy fumed, pushing the coffee table out of the way, discarding his shirt and starting to do sets of hand-stand push-ups--the blood rushing to his head made it feel as though he were literally letting off steam.

He almost didn't answer the door when the knock echoed up the stairs to the second floor. Instead he did two more push-ups, flipped to a standing position and pulled his shirt on.

"Glad of you to remember your obligations, Anderson." He glowered at the older boy but nodded towards Kurt. Most of his frustration was with Anderson because he knew this would happen, it always did. "Hummel welcome to the manor, you'll excuse the state of it I hope, it turns out hiring full time staff in ( ... )

At Damien's greeting, Blaine glanced at Kurt with a sheepish smile. He rolled his eyes when Damien turned around, but then caught up and ruffled his hair as they headed for the stairs. "Sorry, took a little longer than expected. Of course we remembered. And anyway, movie night is hardly an obligation." He grinned and moved back to grab Kurt's hand again as they all went up the stairs to the living room. "Speaking of which, I smell popcorn."

He was still shaken by what had happened earlier so some of Damien's bluntness rolled off his back while some of it sparked a bit of flustered irritation. Still, he focused on Blaine and Blaine's hand in his and smiled his long-practiced, half false and half automatic smile. The only things he could think of to say were automatically sarcastic, something about ostentatious taste or empty calories, so his mouth stayed shut as he looked around the parts of the manor he could see.

The boy turned one mostly swollen eye on Blaine and bristled, tip to toe at the feel of a hand on the top of his head--if he had cat ears they would have laid back and flat against skull. As it was, an annoyed hunch of the shoulders made up for the lack of feline appendages, and the cat-like appearance was achieved just as easily.

"Tch. It would be fresher if you could bother to be as prompt with my doctor's appointments as you are with you social calls. Help yourself, though." He shrugged, body language giving off the strongest 'I don't give a damn if you like it' vibes possible for someone so small. If this was hospitality, it was a hostile variety more common in hostage situations than movie nights. But for Damien, it counted as tryingOnce up the stairs, Damien went right into the kitchen to fix himself another milkshake and take out a tray of chilled baklava from the refridgerator ( ... )
