The doorbell threw him into a flurry of motion, clothes were thrown out of Kurt's bags and into the air, a shoe hit the wall, and Kurt screamed through gritted teeth like a frantic girl. "Why, why, why didn't I pack anything I should have, why do I ever go anywhere without my purple pants, why would anyone go anywhere without purple pants?!"

After a few minutes and some deep breathing administered by Wes, Kurt finally opened the door. Sans purple pants, he had been forced to wear white with black boots and belt and a teal cardigan over a crisp white shirt. He realized just as he opened the door that he hadn't traded out the black bowtie for the matching teal one, so his eyes were wide and shamed even as he imagined Blaine could care less about color-matched accessories. The fear still read in his eyes and he looked a bit like he was about to vomit.

"Blaine," he said with a wide, fake smile.

"Hi Kurt!" Blaine practically chirped when the door opened. He blushed a little at his ridiculous uncoolness. "Um-- hey. You look really nice," he tried to come back from his initial mess up, but the compliment sounded anything but smooth. He was trying desperately hard not stare at the way Kurt's sweater perfectly matched his eyes and made them look even brighter.

"Ready?" he decided to keep his next comment down to one word. That seemed safe.

"Um." Kurt reached up to touch the bowtie and thought about saying no, looking back into the house. But this was still at least sort of a first impression. And running back upstairs to get a new accessory like a freak would not be very impressive. So Kurt just turned back around and smiled again at himself, almost laughing. His own nervousness completely overshadowed any he might have seen in Blaine.

"Yes. God, please get me out of here or I will change twelve more times." He stepped down out of the doorway as he swept his hair to the side one more time and shut the door.

Blaine laughed. "I know exactly what you mean," he assured him. Seeing Kurt so obviously jittery made him feel a tiny bit better-- at least it wasn't just him. As they stepped off the porch, Blaine instinctively started to reach over, just barely grazing Kurt's hand with his before he realized what he was doing and pulled his hand away. He shoved it into his pocket.

"Sorry," he said quickly, hoping it could be easily construed as just not paying attention to where he was swinging his hand. As opposed to merely acting on instinct, trying to do something he'd done after picking Kurt up for every day since they'd gotten together.
