Uther Pendragon had not been to church in a long time, but if that was so it was because he had not been aware of any church in Aternaville, and not for lack of a desire to pray. (And Constans had always said, and Uther had taken it to heart, that Christ was with us even when we could not think of Him.)

But he and Arthur had finally made some headway in the town hall, and much later, Uther had received word that a priest had arrived, and he could see him to make some arrangements at last. There was an address, which led to not the sort of place he would have thought, but he ventured in to find this priest nonetheless.

Father Mulcahy turned to find a rather imposing man standing in the doorway.

"Hello, my son," Father Mulcahy said, smiling a little. "What can I do for you?" The question was more than an empty one; Father Mulcahy assumed that anyone who came to him was in need of something, whether it was guidance, help, or just a friendly ear to listen. Accordingly, he sought to provide whatever his flock needed.

Uther inclined his head in a polite bow.

"I am Uther Pendragon, Father," he said with a sense of relief that his quest to find a religious authority had finally been completed. "And I hope to be married."

"Uther Pendragon," Father Mulcahy said, trying to think where he'd heard that name before. Then a lightbulb lit in his mind. "Uther Pendragon, father to Arthur?" If God could bring him here through a miracle, why not Uther Pendragon? Besides which, River had told him that many people were out of their times here.

Father Mulcahy brightened noticeably at the mention of a marriage. "Married? Oh, yes, yes, of course! I would be very happy to marry you. May I ask what religion you are so I can consult the proper rites?" Although...if Uther was from a time before written history, that was going to present something of a problem.
