Getting Teddy to stay with his mother and not follow him back out the door had been less of a challenge and more of an obstacle preventing him from leaving sooner. He sighed once alone on the curb and gazed upward toward the sky to see if the stars were any more help than they'd ever been.

Mars was not particularily bright that night.

Harry stuffed his hands in his trouser pockets and rocked back on his heels, before turning in the direction of the hotel. Walking wasted time. Each second he wasn't in a room alone with Snape seemed like a pretty decent second to Harry. He didn't want to talk.

He entered the hotel reluctantly, offering a half-assed wave to the receptionist before heading up the stairs. Snape would likely chew him over for taking his time.

The door to Snape's room was shut tight and he knocked before he could fully convince himself to turn and run the other way.

Snape flicked his wand toward the door, not bothering to get up from his place at the table. That he was nervous about this little meeting irritated him to no end. It wasn't as bad as the stomach gnawing nerves of meeting with Lily again.

It was only Potter after all.

"You're late," he snapped, as soon as the door opened. "Ten points from--" he stopped, blinking.

The stench of liquor greeted Harry when the door opened. Snape must have started without him.

"You were saying, Sir?"

"Sit down, Potter," Snape grumble, pushing out the other chair with his foot. It was ironic really, that he'd been in this exact position with the other man's mother.

He watched as Harry walked toward him, eyes moving from head to toe, looking for something attractive about him. Unfortunately, there were too many things he'd never noticed before, which only made him surlier.

"Are you even homosexual, Potter?"

Snape stood up and went to the table, pouring himself another drink before retreating back to the bed.

"Your mother is also off limits, but that hasn't stopped you from throwing her in my face every chance you get," Snape pointed out. "Let me guess. The three of you were a happy little family," he said, his lip curling at the thought.

Why should the idea bother him? Potter was nothing to him, despite what had happened in the this place before. Still, the words left a bitter taste in his mouth.

"Actually she traveled and lived with her parents, but if that's what you want to think..." Harry trailed off with a shrug and sprawled outward. "Fine. Let's call a truce, no bringing up things from before this place. Deal?"

Snape nodded in agreement, lowering the ice pack to sip his scotch.

"And what of the things that happened before in this place?" he asked, wariness back in his tone. "Can we agree that the details we find of that will not go beyond the two of us?"

"Whatever." Harry tapped his empty glass on the table and then got to his feet, wobbling as a brief flare of pain caught him off-guard. Right, he'd forgotten to check for bruising. Later. When Teddy was safely tucked into bed he'd fix that.

"Everyone here already knows more than us. I can't see how it'd help."
