Hawkeye Pierce knew he was getting old when he liked to sit back and watch the insanity, rather than be right in the middle of it. )

"There's nothing wrong with calling it magic." Wes said, his voice echoing a little around him as he inspected the engine bloc. "Doesn't change the fact that the process is the manipulation of matter and energy to produce an effect. You change the gravity field around something to make it float...alter the refraction of light to make it invisible. Means to an e--
clunk! owwww..." He stood too quickly and bashed the back of his head on the raised hood.

"Yeah, and I know. It's a manipulation of physics through a series of programs and equations." Dairine rolled her eyes, resisting the urge to wince as Wes hit his head. "But it's the actuator word that brings the wizardry into the problem. That's the magic because it's a literal call on the universe for energy."

Lily stood back watching Wesley and Dairine. It was interesting learning about the younger red-head's version of magic. Because it was quite different from her own. But she hadn't had a chance to use it yet. She was currently contented standing with her wand, and listening to the two of them. Quite like what Hawkeye was doing, without the beer.

"But that's what I don't understand--can I see the list again, Lily, thanks--" Wes took the list as it was handed to him. "For that to work, the acuator word would have to be the equivalent of at least an ion engine, or a plasma converter coupling and that doesn't make any sense."

He nursed his head and glanced over the list again. "I'd like to get it running properly before we try anything else, but the engine seems fine. I wonder if it's the torque converter?"
