A chance meeting... or is it?

Who: Tosh and .... someone
Where: The park
When: Friday, June 12, around 4pm
Rating: TBA

Despite the strange way she had arrived here, Tosh had grown rather fond of the town. Specifically, it's (usual) peacefulness- walking out of the quiet library, across the usually-lovely park, to her house- it was a nice afternoon routine that she'd quickly come to enjoy. Sure, home was a bit less peaceful these days with Dairine always doing unexpected things, but it was nice and comforting in its own way.

So, a peaceful Friday walk in the park. Tosh really could not imagine a nicer way to spend this afternoon.

Someone was sitting on the bench up ahead. His back was mostly turned toward her, but as she approached, he rose and turned smoothly to face her. There was a faint smile on his face. "Toshiko Sato," he said, sounding pleased. "You're looking... surprisingly well, all things considered."

Tosh frowned for a moment, not recognizing the face or the voice of the man who addressed her. "Hello," she said, her usual quiet smile present, even if her eyes were still confused. "I'm sorry, have we met?"

"Oh yes. Well, briefly." Tucking his hands into his pockets, he gave her a smile. "My name is Grey."

The name sounded vaguely familiar, though Tosh could not place it at all. Had someone mentioned it once? "I'm so sorry, but I don't seem to recall," Tosh apologized, shrugging a little. "But it's nice to meet you again, anyway." Grey, Grey- where had she heard that name?

"No need to apologize," he said pleasantly, eyes roving over her face. "You work with my brother. Or - I guess you used to. How is he, by the way?"

Tosh frowned, now more confused than ever. "Your- your brother?" Tosh asked, looking at Grey more closely. At the "used to", Tosh's mind jumped, as it always did, to Torchwood. He didn't really resemble Owen, nor Ianto... "Jack?" she asked, her face the picture of confusion. "You're Jack's brother?"

Even as she was speaking the words, her mind finally made the connection. Captain John Hart, just before he'd left that rooftop. "I found Grey-" and that was all. When they'd asked Jack, all he'd said was "He's no one."

But now, here he was, obviously someone.

"Jack- Jack's fine, I think," Tosh nodded. "I believe he's actually back in Cardiff now, he's been gone for a few weeks, I think."

"Oh no, I don't think so. I think he's back in town." Grey seemed entirely confident, even amused. "I left him a little note to say hello, but I haven't seen him yet. So now I'm thinking it might not be such a bad thing that you got out of Torchwood before I had a chance to shoot you." His eyes narrowed slightly. "I never even got to see his face when he found you, last time. And that was kind of the point. To see his face."

Tosh froze on the spot, a drunken and awful conversation with Owen coming back to haunt her. "We died, Tosh. Both of us. There was a - situation - din't make it." "Think it was Jack's brother did it. Little bastard fucked everything up good."

"You-" Tosh stammered, her eyes opening wide. "You killed Owen." And her, too, technically- though it was not in her timeline, nor something she remembered. "You tried to kill everyone."

"I think that's pretty much what I just said," Grey replied mildly. "Or suggested, anyway. Try to keep up."
